ABOUT US

THE ORIGIN

Soulprint HM ltd was found by our CEO Priscilla Acquah.

Priscilla's origins are from West Africa Ghana however she was born and raised in England United Kingdom. Her love for The Ghanaian culture is not only what makes her being but is expressed through fashion and art. Soulprint is a representation of the multicultural origin experience, from the patterns and colours from Ghana to the minimalist shapes and design from the Uk. As design the African influence is dominant in her life however she does not neglect all parts of her life journey, being African British. Priscilla grew up in England with the dreams of creating a brand that did not restrict her but celebrated and most importantly complemented her personality and lifestyle.

In 2015 Priscilla had left home England to pursue her dreams as a designer in Belgium, where she had found some cultural restrictions regarding how she was perceived as an African woman. The stigma behind African culture gave her fuel; to be unapologetic to her love of African culture in, particular the fabrics and colours. Priscilla identified with the Fabrics specifically the prints as every print held a meaning, a celebration of life, love, joy and class. These factors were important in the process of choosing which patterns would be at the forefront for the brand.

"You can only really know yourself until you accept every part of you, so it was important for me to be authentic in every part of what makes me"-Priscilla Acquah

Ghana is very prominent in the process of the brand from the prints and fabrics to the source of manufacture. It is important that the brand not only celebrates the culture but also reimburses the life line of culture. Our CEO personally travels every year to Ghana scouting fabrics; overall to fall in love all over again With the culture music, food, and of course the fashion.

The main ethos however she found dominant on the travels was the communities "family". In Ghana your elder is an auntie or uncle regardless if they are blood related or not. The concept of family in Ghana is so beautiful that love is unconditional with no limitations but to be shared, its gold. That’s what soulprint is about a, bridge between the past present and future generations "ubuntu", The essence of being human. Ubuntu speaks particularly about the fact that you can't exist as a human being in isolation. It speaks about our interconnectedness. You can't be human all by yourself, and when you have this quality - Ubuntu - you are known for your generosity. We think of ourselves far too frequently as just individuals, separated from one another, whereas you are connected and what you do affects the whole World.

When you do well, it spreads out; it is for the whole of humanity.- Desmond Tutu

"i am because we are"  timeless culture plays a big part of the design process.

Soulprint is a custom fashion and Home brand that celebrates colour and culture. We bridge the gap between the cultural custom traditions in Africa and bring that culture to you. This platform creates an accessible range of custom products by venders (creatives) in the UK.
